6 People Killed at South Fulton Apartment Complex This Year

Fulton County Sheriff GA

A man was murdered at what is now considered one of the most crime-ridden apartments in South Fulton, making this the 6th homicide at this complex this year.

39-year-old Wendell Lowe was found shot to death inside his SUV outside of the Camelot Condominiums on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023.

Lowe’s stepbrother was fatally shot at the same apartment complex at the beginning of June. Both shootings are still being investigated.

In January, a man was found shot in his car in the apartment’s parking lot, his condition and identity have not been released.

That same month, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the head while taking out the trash. He was rushed to the ICU where he had to be put on life support.

The City of South Fulton discussed plans for the apartment in a town hall meeting but said that the process would take time.

“This is an unacceptable safety record for any property in the State of Georgia.  We must demand better,” says victim attorney Frank Bayuk of Georgia law firm Bayuk Pratt.  “When residents are repeatedly victimized by criminals at a property, the owners and managers of that property have a duty to take action. Six shootings at this property in one year is outrageous. Refusing to provide adequate security is clearly negligent, and management that acts this way should be held accountable.”

The city says Camelot’s HOA will have four months to come into compliance with the code violations they found on Wednesday and make monthly reports on the progress.
